BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENTS

        Arif Motahar, a rising entrepreneur educated mostly in business management (MBA, Middlesex Business School, ‘96) started his career in Packard Bell, a leading PC brand of Europe back in the mid-nineties. He then furthered his career in E-Commerce in the late 90s during the era of E- commerce boom.

  • He migrated back to Bangladesh in 2001 to join Aarong (A concern of BRAC, the largest NGO) where he developed automated supply chain as a key element for capacity He took the helm of Aarong at a time when competition was steep, revenue already decreased, and pilferage at its highest! He turned the company around in less than two years from $8 million turn over (in 2001) to $50 million usd turn over in recent years.

Mr. Motahar set up ‘Retail Technologies’ in 2003 to provide pricing and warehouse solutions through development of POS (Point of Sale) and barcode technology. ‘Retail Technologies’ tied up with SATO, a leading provider of barcode printers, scanner and supply chain solution. Over the years, Retail Technologies has grown to become an important service provider in telecommunications, garments industry, pharmaceuticals, shipping & courier and retail sector, employing 100 people with a turnover of $4 USD million per year.

  • After serving in Aarong as GM (2002 to 2004), Mr. Motahar was made the MD (2004 to 2005) of BracBDMail, the troubled ISP of BRAC. He streamlined the leading ISP and steered it to operating profit soon after taking over. Looking at the capital requirements for expansion into new generation IT concern both in terms of technology and head counts, he proposed merger with foreign equity & technology partner to the Board.
  • While heading BracBdMail, he was looking to develop his own business. Looking at the staggering growth in real estate in Bangladesh and lack of good airport hotels in town, he conceived the idea of setting up a business class five star hotel near the International Airport. Arif Motahar is the founder Chairman and Managing Director.
  • Earth Agro Farms is the first of its kind in Bangladesh to produce Pangasius fillets. The company procured best of the machineries from Europe with a vision to produce and export Pangasius fillets all over the world.
  • ‘Cobalt Industries’ is yet another venture involving the manufacture of metal products from pins to wire-mesh. The objective of this industry is to reduce import dependency on metal goods and create employment for 100 people with a turnover of $15 million USD per year. The project will introduce ‘3D panel’, a whole new go green concept of brickless wall for the real estate industry.
  • In 2018 he migrated to Dubai and invested in Hotels, Currently he holds the position chairman of Le Paradise Palace in Al – Rigga
